Trying to avoid GAS this time around....

But couldn't help myself and pulled the trigger on this.

Posted on another forum, but no help over there, maybe somebody here knows more?

I bought a Squire Strat , used off of GC website.

It appears to not have a truss rod adjustment in the headstock.

It is black , white 8 screw pick guard, 22 fret rosewood fretboard. S/s/s.
6 point tremolo

I have not seen it in person, just bought it because it was 60 + 20 shipping, and I thought it was a standard series based solely on 22 fret s.

But it doesn't look like a standard.

THX mountain....that's all I've got....it was the only pic on the GC website, I bought it, at first because I thought it was a Standard.....I did the old fire, ready, aim, lol

After purchasing I noticed the lack of truss rod adjustment on head-stock, and apparent 8 hole pick guard and 6 point trem, none of which add up to a standard

I should have it by the end of the week

I see there is some writing on the very tip of the guitar and after Squier there doesn't seem to be too many words, so I'm guessing it says Strat, not the full Stratocaster. I'm guessing it's an older Affinity because some of them on the headstock says Squier Strat like on the SE model.

Again just a guess.

I was thinking some sort of korean.. but its probably chinese.. if your lucky its japanese and then we'll all be jealous of your luck with the draw.. anyway thats half the fun, is the hunt and anticipation of the unknown.. some have been known to buy sight unseen (no picture) with just a few key words in the description..
Good luck and welcome to squier talk!..

I can't wait to see what it is either, lol.

The one thing I really really hope IT IS NOT is a mini-strat, lol.

Ok , while I am new to this forum, I have been into strats for some time, but no idea what a "Yako Strat " is.

Hard to tell from this tiny photo but it may well be some an early affinity. if the end of the headstock says 'by fender' and the squier logo is black and followed by 'STRAT' then it's maybe like mine which is a Chinese Yako made 1996. 22 frets(SEs have 21) 8 screw
single ply pg, full size body. Only info I found was an old squier catalogue online which refered to this as the Tradition or Traditional strat -think it was a pre affinity possibly sold in a pack. Anyway I really like mine, pickups sound nice, neck feels good and nicely aged plastics:)

Yako is the Chinese factory where these were made. If the serial number starts YN that's means Yako Nineties followed by the production year - e.g. YN6

It's not a mini ! lol First gen affinitys are full thickness bodies produced before 2000 - yako is maker I believe - one of the better ones - you'll hear about young chang also - squiers are the best bang - and they have so many "variants" / models ! Every week I see one I have never seen before - This is the best forum !

I agree with Fret Cheese with the provision of it being a Yako made 'NC'. Those are some I like: 22 frets, 8 hole pg, rosewood board, smaller (maybe slightly elongated headstock), trap tuners, small block tremolo, small pots, pretty decent ceramic pickups, nothing on the back of the HS (except maybe a 50th Anniv badge in '96), serial number & "Made in China" imprinted on the neckplate. full size body (and at least on all of my 'NC's) 43.2mm at the nut. {edited to add} No skunk stripe & unusual 'skeleton' type switch with terminal lugs on the side and about a 1/2 inch or better wide. I never did find a wiring diagram or illustration of the switch, but deciphered it after I bought my second 'NC'.
BTW, Yako while imprinting as Chinese, is actually Taiwan (Republic of China).

Whoops got cut off, looks like a bullet series I have. From what I gathered, shortly after they moved the bullet series to China they started labaling
