I've been listening to Connie Francis' Italian collection, which reminds me of being a kid in Brooklyn in the 1960s. My maternal grandmother was named Lucia, and when I play Italian music, I think of two things. Canio, the patron saint of Calitri (there were a bunch of them in our family), which is the name of the pagliaccio/clown in Leoncavallo's opera (my avatar is Sideshow Bob playing the part), and the second thing I think of is this song, a Neapolitan standard, and one of the most beautiful things I have ever heard...
