Nice little amps. I had one for a while. Good clean, nice reverb, gain channel is only so-so. Get pretty loud around 2-3, but also kind of flubby. They do they're best work at lower volumes.

Great amp, and reverb. There is an issue with some (usually the V1 black ones) where the clean channel volume is always maxed out.

Had one for a while, great little amp, nice Fender cleans with spring reverb, perfect pedal platform. It just got very loud very quickly as RegularJim pointed out at about 2-3 it would get earsplitting, and was too much amp for my small room. I'm running 5 watts though a twelve inch cab now and it still gets too loud. Notice where the volume knob cranked up to 3,

The 25r is my only amp. I don't have a lot of reference points, but the clean channel sounds really nice to me. The 'drive' channel is functional but has a kind of cold, artificial distortion rather than sweet overdrive. It definitely gets 'too loud' at 3-4. I'll have to take a look at the volume pot mod above.
Does anyone have a recommendation for an overdrive pedal that works well with these? Something in the Joyo price range would be great :-D

what value of volume pot did u change to?
If you can find one of the older models with the black metal grille (like Smith357 posted above), those sound better to my ear than the new ones. I think they maybe had a better speaker. Regardless, I have the newer model and swapped out the speaker for a Ragin' Cajun, and I agree with guitarmikey -- it has really nice cleans for a solid state amp.

Thanks for digging this out. I sold the Volume Issue one before I bothered to address it. I have the Texas Red model now and those versions (sea foam, blue, red, black, brown) all have expected and typical volume levels.
Years ago I bought my 212r and I loved it so much I bought the 25r. Lots of nice, well thought-out features. It's a modeling amp doing one model, Fender. The 25r has a nice RCA in feature too as well as headphones. It may not be the greatest or address everything for everyone, but fairly respectable.

Sad day. I just plugged in to my Frontman and...no sound. I got something when I wiggled the input jack a bit, so I opened it up to take a look at the PCB. It looked like a loose trace, so I soldered on a jumper, but it doesn't seem to have fixed it. Probably needs some more tinkering.
Moral of the story: have more than one amp

Sux Alex.. Do some of that meter trouble shooting thang and update.. Good luck young warrior!
Probably need to resolder where the jack connects to the board. I have a Squier Champ with the same issue.

Thanks for the advice, and sorry to hijack the thread. I opened it up again and did some continuity checking. Turns out it needed an additional jumper. All good now!
