Hi everyone, I sold my Jim Root Tele and missed it so I got another used for a steal! It’s a little worn (I don’t mind it) but was upgraded with Jim Root EMGs and Sperzel locking tuners. The bridge is in rough shape and I’d like to replace it.

Does anyone here know what Hipshot model bridge will fit this Tele? I’ve tried searching online some but haven’t had any luck so I figured I’d post here. Any and all help is greatly appreciated!!!!

This is the one I’ve been looking at:

Hipshot mount holes are close to a Fender. Just off about 1/2 screw on 2 outside ones. I glued some Kabob Skewers and re-drilled. This is depending on a 3 screw mount. I couldn't see one up close. Nice Bridge BTW! One on my Avitar and that had Fender mount. :D

If the Hipshot isn’t a direct fit, so you know if any that are? I was reading, not sure if this is true, but some are saying the Hipshot doesn’t have the screw pieces that adjust the bridge height that will stick into your hand like the current Jim Root Tele bridge does.

I just want to find a direct fit.

I would break out the ruler and measure spacing on current bridge dimensions (center hole to center, measurements to all edges etc) , then email Hipshot.

They are pretty responsive in my past dealings.

Worst case.. keep the current base bridge and upgrade saddles. This is what I’ve done is 3 cases and has worked great.
Less muss and fuss unless there’s a functional/or aesthetic reason you want to change it out.

Check your String Spacing and get a Fender Hardtail because the Holes should be perfect, or a little mod for a Hipshot, which is way better. I looked at some Fender;s and only saw 5 screw mounts, where only the middle bottom one lines up? I saw Fender's import one which is what you have. I don't know any others.

Thanks everyone for the replies so far! :)

I did just get this from Hipshot. I tried emailing them a few days ago.

So this would be measuring the bridge string holes E to E I’m guessing?

Thanks for reaching out!
Please measure the string span from E to E, center to center, at the bridge.

If is 2 1/16" get this one: https://hipshotproducts.com/products/fixed-guitar-bridge

If is 2 1/8" get this one: https://hipshotproducts.com/products/6-string-hardtail-guitar-bridge

If is 2 1/4" get this one: https://hipshotproducts.com/products/6-string-hardtail-guitar-bridge?variant=35271410824

I just measured mine and it’s going to be 2 1/16th.

The 3 screws in the back though to me looks like it will not match up. The ones on the hipshot seem more close together and centered where as on the root bridge is at corners almost…

I took a pic of mine, the biggest measurement will be those screw holes. I just dont think the hipshot will work without drilling. Dpang is correct on the outside screws on hipshot being closer in.

Yes, those bottom holes are way wider than the Hipshot and the 5 screw one has them in the right place. Gotoh is the one. You must have 2 screws up top I can't see? I love the Gotoh!

That’s the fender body though, which I think comes stock with a hipshot bridge.
Sorry! Hipshot sells Saddles at $6 each. What I like about their Bridge is how the Saddles are encased. Most 5 screw Bridges are not any better than what you have. Pretty sure String-Through holes are higher up than a Hipshot.

This forum is the best!!!
I appreciate all the posts!!!

Like IronSchef mentioned I think I may just grab 6 saddles. The bridge is ok, but the screws are a bit rusty.

Just need to measure those saddles now and see which ones are right for the Jim Root.

Again thank you guys so much for all the help with this so far!!!!!!!!!

COOL! I just looked at the JM Squier Bridge and Gotoh would be a Drop-In. I have one of the old Nickel Plated. That got replaced with the Cosmo Black.

I don’t want to be that guy, but I strongly recommend getting a metric ruler for working on Squiers and any other Asian-made guitars. All the measurements are metric on these, even if it’s not your standard unit of measurement, it will make your life way easier compared to conversion charts.

I have quite a few, both metric and imperial….that one was just the closest to grab. ;)
