I posted a pic in another thread of a small wooden box that I flipped upside down to set my amp on and get it up off the ground.
It changed the tone a little, in a good way to my ears.

I remembered that I had this wooden tool box stashed away though. It belonged to my dad, and was given to me by my mom when he died. I hadn’t found a use for it, then I realized it was the perfect size to sit my amp on. It’s got enough room in it to store plenty of accessories and keep them readily available. So this box replaced the other one.

Do any of you use amp stands? DIY or not? Tilt back?

BTW I attempted to upload this pic directly from my phone and I got the “image is too large” error message. It was 2.5 mb. I had to reduce it to get it to upload.

Amp on the floor = more bass
Amp on the floor against a wall = even more bass
Amp on the floor in a corner = max bass

High frequencies are very directional while low frequencies are not. So where the amp is pointed in reference to your ears will have a much more dramatic effect on the highs than the lows. Hard floor or carpeted will also have dramatic effects.

Yes I definitely agree.

This amp is in a corner, plaster walls, tall ceilings, carpeted floor. The amp sounded a little “woofy” back there. I pulled it out about 1 foot from the back wall, and put it up on the box, and then it really came alive. Much better balance, to my ears anyway.

I used to use an amp stand when I only had two amps. Now I have three so my Carvin sits on the floor and my 1x12 box and Vox mini head sit on top of it. The Ampeg sits beside my “3x12 half stack” with the 15” speaker it’s tall enough it doesn’t need a stand. IMG_7177.jpeg

I really like the On-Stage RS7500 Tilt-Back stands. I’ve got two.

Reminds me of a line out of a Chris Smithers song, "Train Home"; "Is and was all there ever gonna be."

Nice box, too!
