Just curious if anyone else has a squier that has a quartersawn or flamed maple neck, maybe even birdseye? I have a couple examples, and have seen a few here and there, probably attributed to randomness more than anything. How rare of an occurence is it to find? Show it off if you have one!

Not on either of my Squiers but my cheapo bass thst started life as some low end Yamaha has a really nice flamed neck. I don’t have a pic with me at work but I can definitely upload one after I get home if I remember.

I threw a headstock pick up that best illustrates what I mean, back matches too. I'm not sure folks even watch for this kinda thing when looking for guitars or parts. I definitely notice when I see a tight and straight grained neck that looks like a custom shop guitar part since I'll never be in that 3 or 4k custom shop guitar market.

Poor man's perspective. Would LOVE to own a 4k strat and appreciate what these artisians at the custom shop can do. I was curious if other folks look at parts like i do more than anything and think, heck, that's just wood.

I have a few necks like this. Problem is that none are on a Squier. The best one I have is on a Stage, which has tiger stripes. I have a nice quartersawn neck, which is on a Fender Japan Strat. Neither guitars are Squier Strats (the section in which this thread is in).

Nice to find on a Japanese strat too! I probably should have broadened the thread to include any cheaper guitars. Lets do that. Show off any sub 300 dollar guitar where you got premium quality wood if anyone runs across this thread.

While I appreciate the work and craftsmanship thst goes into a $4k custom shop guitar I’d never want to own one I’d be too scared to play it. Afraid I’d drop it. I do however look for things in my budget they are “aesthetically pleasing, in other words, fly.” (Bonus points if you know the song that lyric came from). All my guitars are nice to look at because if I don’t like how they look I’m not gonna play them. It’s why I’m not big into the relic look. I don’t look so much for straight grain on a neck as much as I’d look at the blending of color on a sunburst finish.

I'd ask a mod to move the thread over to the "Other Guitar" or "VC's Corner." Just to keep things kosher.

Forgive me, for forgetting who else are mods here, but I do appreciate the good works ye all are doing and helping out Lonn, who for the longest time was the only mod!

2017 Squier Strat.
Quarter-sawn one-piece maple neck. Logo removed but serial info still on back. Fender USA tuners.

I have a 2002 MIC Squier Standard Strat with some stripes in the neck, and an '83 MIJ SQ Precision Bass with some unusual figure in the neck.
Maple has so many variations it's bound to happen.
