Suggest an asking price for my Squier Jagmaster

March has been a month to remember ... or to forget ... as I have gotten hit with a lot of bills, some expected, such as my car insurance, but also an unplanned and expensive car repair plus a huge electricity bill.

Anyway ... I need some money as well as to get rid of some gear I'm not using. One of these is my Squier Jagmaster. This is the one some people here may remember I bought primarily because it came with an excellent Fender hardshell case so I had planned to keep the case and sell the guitar ... but it was so nice I postponed selling it. But now seems the time as I have other short -scale guitars (my Squier VM Jag for example) and I'm not a fan of humbuckers except perhaps in a jazz guitar.

So I went to Guitar Center and there are four now but the only one that is in "great" condition like mine (actually more like "excellent" condition I think) is selling for $449.99, which seems really high. There is a black finish one for $249.99 but it's in good condition but the pics show it is full of scratches on the back. Mine is the sunburst.

Reverb's prices , according to recent history, are $275 to $379 for "very good" Jagmasters with one "excellent" Jagmaster selling for $325. "Very good" guitars sold for $275 to $360. I guess this is before any shipping charges which could range from free to "are you kidding me?" charges. And I understand Reverb charges a 5 percent fee on the total price, including shipping.

I will be selling it locally so I wonder what I should list it as? As I said I'm reluctant to sell it but I've only played it a few times so it is another one of my "closet queens" and there are others I will be getting rid of it. My gigging days are disappearing quite quickly now through the rear-view mirror of my travels through life.

Btw, it's a standard 2007 model with all stock parts. I haven't even had it professionally set up as I thought at the time, as I said , I would be selling it so I just kept it in the case.

So thoughts ....? Thanks in advance.

I think it depends on how fast you need the cash but, to be fair, I think $340ish would be about right because you are probably going to lose a couple bucks negotiating.

Thanks. I just wanted an idea. I don't need the money today ... but maybe by Wednesday? No, I just want to get something for it if I need to.

I agree on that price. I have been very motivated to replace the one I had and I follow what actual sells. Anything over about $375 justs sits.
I really miss mine, my first guitar I bought when I was 50 with intentions to really learn. Not a great sound, kinda muffled pickups but man I love the way it looks. And I kinda dig the short scale. Wish I was closer to ya.

Yes I know . Shipping would be pretty expensive.

I may just take it to my "guy" at the local Guitar Center. I've sold him some items through the years and he generally gives me a fair price, which seems to be a max of about 60 percent of what he will lists the guitar at. For example the last time I sold him something he put the item for sale at about $350 and he gave me $210, but he at first offered me I think $190.

Yes I can make more money by selling it myself but this is easier, safer (hey, it happens every day) and quicker.

Or I could send you a shipping label and you could box it and sell to me for $250.....
