Hello All,

Looking to ID the pickups & finish on this Squier JV serial 18xxx neck dated 10/16/82 (1st week of 2nd gen I believe).

From what I’ve read, this guitar was made during the time period where the pickups used were all over the place.

It was sold to me as a ST62-85, but from what I now understand, all the Squier export models weren't nitro. I would love to be wrong on this!

Attaching photos so I can try and hammer out what the components and finish really are.

Thanks in advance!

Attaching more photos, including the case that came with it. Is the "C" stamp all that I need to identify it as an ST62-65?!? Thanks again everyone!

The only JV's that were nitro were the ST-118 and the ST-85 all others were poly. I have my doubts that they were nitro since the finishes held up so well on these but whatever, if your is a ST62-85 it should have nitro body and neck paint and US pickups. Nice AXE ! There is a test you can do inside the control cavity take some acetone or nail polish remover on a q-tip to an inconspicuous spot and if it dissolves the finish it is Nitro if not it is poly.

Thank you! I have seen that test mentioned on this forum and will certainly try it. Any thoughts on the pickups?

Thank you, this is awesome info! Are there any other differences between the st-85s & 65s other than the finish?
Being a lefty, I personally never owned one. Been a while since I brushed up on these. Can't recall maybe some pickups differences.
I should also mention it’s got a 5 switch
That's normal, the 57's had 3 ways
