I received a new Squier Affinity Sunburst Precision PJ Bass from Musicians Friend late yesterday. I had been looking at the Classic Vibes, but this was marked down and had free shipping. What’s not to like?
Setup was good out of the box. It had been detuned, so all I had to do was tune it up. I don’t even have all the plastic film off, yet. I’m a guitar player, so this is totally new to me. The unfinished back of the neck is cool (or satin?), but I would like to smooth it some. How to do that?

HNBD! The Satin is nice but they don't put much on, so Scotchbrite Blue Color is less Abrasive and will smooth it out. 😍
I found these two 3M Finishing Pads at Lowe’s (in addition to the traditional green Scotch Brite pads). These are the bomb! Worked perfectly! Thanks for the tip.

There's a couple ways, one a little more aggressive than the other. To start, just buff it with 0000 steel wool. Use masking tape to cover your pickups as the magnets will attract the steel wool particles that become detached. The slightly more aggressive approach is to use a green ScotchBrite pad. It leaves a little bigger scratch pattern than does the steel wool. Of the two, I tend to prefer the ScotchBrite pad, but both create a surface with less friction to grab your skin.
