First Guitar - It’s a Squier!!

Hey,

I got my first guitar this week (Squier Affinity) and I’ve paired it with a Blackstar amp, I’m still getting to grips with everything but thought I’d join the Squier community as I’m sure I’ll have loads of questions on my guitar learning journey.

So far I’ve been working my way through the Fender Play lessons pack that was included with the guitar (3 month pre-paid card). So-far-so-good, still a long way to go but enjoying things so far (I’m 35 so thought I might be a bit old to start learning lol!). Would it be worth having one to one tuition in person with a tutor or should I hold off and just keep at it with the Fender Play stuff?

Anyway, nice to meet everyone and I’ve included a picture below (because who doesn’t love a good pic!).

Welcome!! Beautiful guitar - the saddles however are sell all wrong for proper intonation - has the guitar had a full pro setup? If would play better and sound in tune if you do.....a wise investment

Otherwise keep on playing!!

Welcome to ST. Sweet looking Strat.

There are several good online lessons. However, there is no substitute for a good in-person lesson. Keep in mind, good players do not necessarily equate to a good instructor.

I also am a fan of Justinguitar.com Justin starts with fundamentals and expects mastery, or close to it, prior to advancing. In other words, play clean. Enjoy.

Thank you for the warm welcome.

I’ll take a look at the saddles tonight, how do I adjust them (guessing hex key or screwdriver?)

As far as getting the guitar setup, is this something a local music shop is likely to be able to do, or is it a more specialist type service and is it expensive?
