ooooh yeah! I am a mini pedal fiend.
I can probably provide more info than you'd ever want.
Below I will attach a picture of my current (mostly) mini and budget pedals.
Theres a couple others on my main board (not pictured) and I've tried a few others and returned or sold them (obviously no pics of those).

For overdrives The Dumbler is the best handsdown.
I like it better than the Silverhorse.
The D250x is the most transparent and the B Box is good if you want more of a preamp type thing.
The Stageright VS one works but, is really just better at being a distortion.
Yes, I have all of those, and then some.

For Fuzz (since you mentioned it) I like the Rowin one, but I think you would like the Kmise.
Its fuzzier. The Rowin one stacked with an overdrive makes a good Boss DS1 type of distortion.
Kmise is more like a Big Muff Op-Amp.

The Spring Reverb is good, I have two of them.
The Kmise Ultimate Drive is also a winner.

As you can see I've build a couple of the boards into tool boxes, and 3 of the 4 are battery powered.
The 4th could be powered by battery too but its just my leftover pedals, I dont even play that board.
I'm actually looking to sell those pedals off.

What kind of music do you play?
Actually, the Xotic BB "Preamp", and all its clones, the Caline Orange Burst, the Mosky B Box, and the Joyo Zip Amp (which I have), are all just Tube Screamers with bass and treble controls.

I’m all over the map, but for this board I’m not really trying to nail anything specific. Totally open to trying a bunch of stuff and swapping things out as needed just to keep things compact. I was thinking along the lines of overdrive, fuzz, reverb, delay, tremolo. But that’s certainly not a must.

I see the Dumbler keeps popping up so I’ll definitely get one of those.

Those are some great boards! I love the idea of a toolbox build. I’ve got a board now that will comfortably fit at least 6 mini pedals, with room underneath for a Cioks and a battery bank if I decide to go that route.

Thanks for the breakdown!

You gotta have a Klon and Tube Screamer too, the two most iconic drive pedals of all time. Just loke Dumbles and Marshalls, they are icons because they sound so good. Speaking of Marshall, you might want to have a Plexi pedal too for heavier classic rock tones.

Youre welcome :)

In that case the Flamma Mod has Tremolo on it. So I would suggest the 5 below, and if you wanted another:
Putting a tuner on the front of the Signal Chain or a Kmise Ultimate Drive or US Dream between the Fuzz and Mod would be a nice 6th pedal.

1. VSN Dumbler
2. Kmise Fuzz
3. Flamma Mod
4. Mosky Spring Reverb
5. (Whatever brand; Sapue, Kmise, Horse) Delay

I’ve been seeing the Tantrum pop up a lot. That’s usually enough to trigger my curiosity, if not full on GAS.
I got one because of Eddie haha.
My opinion:
It's decent. Very bright hissy metal sound.
Best with an overdrive before it, or an EQ after it.
Or if you have a muddy sounding guitar or amp maybe it would be helpful.

I like to try pedals so I got one and I'm glad I did but it doesn't get much use because I favor others instead. So i wouldn't recommend it unless you already have a few other distortions or it's exactly the metal tone you want.

Aren't the Joyo Extreme Metal and Caline Tantrum the same pedal? (both Metal Muff Clones)

Yes, I need a backup for my backup. :)

Yes, light OD in front of it to tighten the fuzzy bottom end and then a graphic EQ after it to thicken the overall tone.

Still the best distortion pedal I've ever used. Makes many of the other high gain pedals sound like farts. :)

The Donner mod square 7 is pretty cool. 7 modulation effects in one mini pedal. Flanger, phase shift, 2 chorus effects, tremolo, vibrato, and rotary speaker. Sounds good enough also. I keep mine on tremolo most of the time. Can't go wrong for the price, usually just over 50$.
I have a similar multi modulation effect pedal from Flamma
It was just under $40

these are all decent IMO the TC ones you would have to source used to keep the cost down but the TonePrint allows you to change the sounds of these pedals then tweak them. Very cool.

The little brown Tomsline Dumbler was the very first "Dumble" pedal that I bought many years ago, and, since then I've tried the Rowin Dumbler, the Joyo Tai Chi, the Wampler Euphoria, and most recently, the Caline Mellow Drive, and I liked them all, and still have the Mellow Drive, but I don't like any of them as much as the Tomsline. It's the pedal I've had the longest without ever selling it. I can't even think of another that I've had for close to that long. I think the other two that I've had the longest are the Tone City Bad Horse (my desert island Klon klone) and the Outlaw Effects Hangman, which is a rebranded Rowin LEF-302A Overdrive I

Another vote here to dig the 60 Cycle Hum "Afford-a-board" series. Or just their entire channel in general!!

I had a Mosky Silver Horse given to me: a great overdrive, but I exclusively use an old Big Muff as my one & only distortion!! I recall that it had a 'voice' type switch and one of the two settings didn't work.

Not a mini, but the Caline Pure Sky overdrive pedal is fantastic.

I have a love/hate relationship with the Pure Sky and also the Orange Burst. I think I've had at least three of each, but I eventually end up selling them because I have other drive pedals I like more. My favorite TS/BB preamp type right now is the Joyo Zip amp, which is their version of a BB, like the Orange Burst. I also have a Chinese "Timmy" that is shameless in its copying of a real one, except for fewer functions, and they didn't try to represent it as a real Timmy. They also make a few other nearly identical looking clones, like a Fulldrive, OCD, and a BB Preamp. It's less scooped than the Pure Sky. s-l640 (1).jpg

60 Cycle hum afford a board series is what drove me to this madness. Hahaha

One of the two settings on my Silverhorse is A LOT quieter... but it works.
Same with my Mosky D250x
The Silver Horse seems to be like many TS type mini pedals that have a warm/hot switch, where the hot mode is a lot louder output but lower distortion, because it removes the clipping diodes from the circuit, and the only distortion is from driving the op-amp. The more you clip the signal, the lower the output volume. In the 3 pedals I've had with a 3 way clipping switch, the Wampler Euphoria, the Caline Stack Attack, and the Joyo Zip Amp, the lowest distortion setting has the highest output level, and the highest distortion setting has the lowest output level.
On my Silver Horse, in the setting without the clipping diodes (up on the switch), the op-amp would oscillate with the gain turned up too much.

I have a Pure Sky but I found it really noisy. Could be a bad pedal but probably more "user error".
I never had a noise problem with any of them. It's just a little bit too scooped for my taste, at least with a Strat, which has scooped sounding pickups already, and with a Fender BF amp model, which is also scooped. It would be less that way with a HB or a Tweed amp model. The Wampler Euphoria was too scooped for me too, and that's also why I sold it. It also was TOO fuzzy in the bass, which is part of the "Dumble" type sound, slightly chewy and fuzzy bass and lower mids and crisp treble, but the Wampler was just too fuzzy with the gain as high as I like. It's the most expensive pedal I ever had. I bought it used for $140, and sold it for $100.
